Nylacast

A world leading innovator in the design, development and supply of precision engineered polymer solutions, Leicester-based Nylacast makes safety-critical automotive components for steering, braking and transmission and exports to 47 countries.

Over 50 years old, one fifth of its 530-strong workforce has been at the company for more than 15 years. (Current MD Damien McCormack joined Nylacast in 1991.)

Nylacast is particularly dominant in worm wheels, with 80 million vehicles fitted with the company's proprietary steering mechanisms since 1999. Annually, it delivers over 12m safety-critical automotive components to its global customer base.

All its products are designed and manufactured in-house and it has four manufacturing facilities in the UK, China, the US and South Africa. Its innovations in material applications regularly win engineering awards.

It was acquired by private equity firm Equistone in July 2018.
